2025 grid based on F1 penalty points from plus to minus after Brazilian GP

F1's penalty points system was put in place to keep driving standards in the sport above a certain threshold. They were initially introduced after drivers such as Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado were involved in too many incidents during races. It was during this time that Grosjean would even receive a racing ban in 2012 due to his low driving standards.

In 2014, F1 penalty points were introduced to keep these driving standards in check. Since then, there has only been one driver who has been banned for it. Kevin Magnussen was penalized this season and became the first driver to cross the 12-point threshold.

As we move on from F1's Brazilian GP, we take a look at where each driver stands in terms of penalty points.
