3 WWE rumors we hope are true and 3 we hope aren’t

Welcome to another edition of WWE rumors that we hope are true and we hope aren’t. The Stamford-based promotion is less than a week away from John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII. After that, the company will start preparing for the 2026 Royal Rumble Premium Live event.

In this article, we’ll discuss three WWE rumors that we hope are true and three that we hope aren’t.

#6. Hope is True: WWE’s Plans for Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes III

At the end of Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, WWE dropped a major hint about a rematch between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes when the duo engaged in a heated confrontation.

In a new update by Dave Meltzer of the Combat Observer Bulletinit was reported that a title match between Reigns and Rhodes has been confirmed to take place. However, he may not be booked for WrestleMania 42.

Let’s hope this rumor is true because if WWE books a rematch between Reigns and Rhodes before The Showcase of the Immortals, it could have even bigger plans for ‘Mania.

#5. Hope Is Not True: Vince McMahon’s Status for Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII

John Cena will compete in his final match in the main event on Saturday night against Gunther. The WWE Universe is looking forward to seeing Vince McMahon in Washington for The Franchise Player’s final bout.

A report of Bryan Alvarez de la Wrestling Observer has suggested that McMahon will likely not appear on SNME. The source said the scenario was not impossible, but the chances of McMahon appearing on December 13 are still low.

We hope this rumor is not true as the former WWE President played a crucial role in John Cena’s career. To give Cena a big send off from the squared circle, he needs to be present at SNME.

#4. Hope is True: Nikki Bella’s Potential New Major Role

There has been talk of Nikki Bella transitioning into a heel manager role later on. (WON)

Nikki Bella is currently on the Monday Night RAW roster. The veteran star recently turned heel and locked horns with Stephanie Vaquer, but fell short of the Women’s World Title.

The Wrestling Observer recently reported that WWE is discussing a major new role for Nikki Bella. The Fearless One could take on the role of a heel manager later on.

Let’s hope the rumor is true, as it will be a great direction for Nikki Bella once she decides to cut back on her in-ring appearances.

#3. Hope Ain’t True: The Stone Cold Steve Austin WrestleMania 42 Update

WrestleMania always features big surprises and unexpected returns. Over the years, Stone Cold Steve Austin has made several memorable appearances at The Showcase of the Immortals.

Before ‘Mania 42, Dave Meltzer speculated that The Texas Rattlesnake will soon be 61 years old, and he highly doubts that he will be performing in Las Vegas for The Show of Shows.

Let’s hope the rumor isn’t true as an appearance from the veteran will make WrestleMania truly special to witness. Stone Cold should at least be in a short segment and deliver a Stunner to an up and coming talent.

#2. The hope is true: Jon Moxley is not the mystery attacker

Jon Moxley was one of the names linked to the mysterious attacker that emerged at Survivor Series. However, Sean Ross Sapp of fighter denied rumors and confirmed that the former Shield member will not be returning to WWE anytime soon.

Let’s hope this rumor is true, as Moxley doesn’t need a mystery attacker story to make a comeback. An official announcement of his potential return to WWE is enough to shake up the entire landscape of professional wrestling.

#1. Hope not true: AEW’s current star is CM Punk’s mystery attacker

World Wrestling Entertainment has yet to reveal the identity of the Survivor Series mystery attacker. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling ObserverChris Jericho could end up being the aggressor if Triple H drags the storyline into January 2026.

Let’s hope this rumor turns out to be true, as Austin Theory deserves a strong comeback, and the reveal of the attacking mystery would help it gain momentum.
