5x NBA Champion Drops Strong Word On Patrick Beverley's Altercation With Sister

This past Friday, former NBA player Patrick Beverley He was arrested by Texas authorities and charged with domestic/family assault to obstruct breathing in the third degree. According to reports, Beverley was involved in a “family violence incident” involving his sister, a minor, and an 18-year-old man.

Since then, netizens have been talking about the case of Beverley, who had earned a reputation as a tough and strong defender in the NBA. Five-time NBA champion Ron Harper chimed in and called Beverley's character into question.

“Not so hard,” Harper tweeted.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, officers were dispatched to a home in the Houston suburb of Rosharon on Friday morning. They arrested Beverley, who later posted $40,000 bail to get out of jail.

Beverley, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 NBA season, later went on X to urge fans to “not believe everything you see on the internet.” He continued with a statement prepared by his lawyer.

“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply for his younger sister – a young lady, a minor,” the statement said. “Given that when he unexpectedly found her home alone with an 18-year-old in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be for his sister.”

It should be noted, however, that Beverley has been involved in some other questionable situations in the past. During his final NBA game in May 2024, he threw a ball at some Indiana Pacers fans, who later filed a lawsuit against him.

Still, the statement prepared by Beverley's attorney claimed the former NBA standout was being unfairly portrayed on the Internet following his arrest in Rosharon.

“However, we do not believe that what happened happened as it has been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address this in court,” the statement added.

'Cmon Miami': Patrick Beverley posts sports-related tweet after arrest

Two days after Beverley was arrested, he posted an ambiguous tweet that appeared to be sports-related.

“C'mon Miami. Just kick a field goal with Helly,” Beverley posted on X.

Like Miami. Just kick the field goal with wtHelly

Beverley did not provide further context for her tweet. Some fans, who were clearly thinking about the case he's currently involved in, commented that it wasn't entirely appropriate for the player-turned-podcaster to immediately make his presence felt on social media.
