The Edmonton The Oilers got back to winning ways, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 in overtime on Monday night at Rogers Place. The Oilers rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to force overtime.
In overtime, Jack Roslovic ended the game 56 seconds into the game. His fourth goal of the season avoided another disastrous game for the Edmonton Oilers. Jake Walman scored twice, including a shorthanded goal, and Connor McDavid also added a pair.
Meanwhile, Sean Monahan, Boone Jenner, Ivan Provorov and Adam Fantilli scored for the Blue Jackets.
So let's take a closer look at the Edmonton Oilers' three most impressive players from their overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jack Roslovic he has played well since joining the Edmonton Oilers towards the end of training camp. On Monday night, he scored the game-winner to ice a huge comeback effort by the Oilers.
Here's a look at the winning account as featured on the Oilers' official X account:
The sequence started with a great save from Stuart Skinner. Walman then grabbed the rebound and threw a long pass to Roslovic, who took advantage of a Blue Jackets line change. He scored the game-winner to send the Oilers to their seventh win of the season.
Jake Wallman had a fantastic overall game on Monday night. The Edmonton Oilers blueliner overcame some early defensive mistakes to lead the way offensively for the Oilers. In particular, his game-tying goal in the final seconds of the game was the first in team history.
Here's a look at the count:
Walman did a great job of forcing a turnover. He picked up the puck and fired it past Jet Greaves for the tying game.
Walman finished the night with two goals and one assist in over 22 minutes of ice time over 26 shifts.
The Edmonton Oilers captain, as he has done so many times before, carried his team when it looked like they were down.
McDavid he finished the night with two goals. But his biggest came less than a minute into the third period. The goal sparked the Oilers' rally, though Fantilli made it 4-2 shortly after McDavid's first goal.
McDavid then scored his second of the night to make it a 4-3 game. That set the stage for Walman's dramatic equalizer and Roslovic's subsequent overtime winner.
In the end, McDavid rose to the occasion, giving his team a fighting chance. His efforts earned him the game's first star.
The Oilers will return to action on Wednesday night as they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center.
