Anthony Davis will not be marketed, according to the Dallas Mavericks. After the Mavericks fired Nico Harrison as general manager, trade rumors began to swirl around Davis. However, the old N.B.A player Kendrick Perkins said that the Detroit Pistons have generated interest in AD.
The Pistons have taken over the Eastern Conference to begin the 2025-26 NBA season. They are at the top of the standings with a record of 13-2. On Thursday's episode of “Road Trippin',” Perkins addressed trade rumors surrounding the one-time champion.
Thanks for sending!
“The Dallas Mavericks have become one of the most embarrassing situations in sports,” Perkins said. “If I'm AD, I'm doing everything in my power to get to Philly. 'You want to trade me, great.' I think Anthony Davis to the 76ers makes all the sense in the world.. My sources also tell me Detroit has a lot of interest in the old Anthony Davis.”

Although minority owner Mark Cuban said the Mavericks aren't open to dealing Davis, the rumors haven't died down. NBA expert Marc Stein also reported that Dallas is considering trade offers for the star big man.
The Pistons aren't the only Eastern Conference team interested in the 10-time All-Star. According to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, the Chicago Bulls could be a trade destination for AD.
“The Bulls could go in a few directions over the next few months, including adding to the current roster.” Bontemps wrote. “This has led some sources to speculate whether Chicago, with more than $80 million in expiring money, could be a suitor for Dallas' Anthony Davis and bring the Windy City native home.
This season, Davis has dealt with injuries, appearing in just five games. Without his presence, the Mavericks have struggled and are 4-12.
The Pistons have been the best team in the East so far, with a record of 13-2. Things have started to look good for Detroit, and a rumored midseason trade to acquire Anthony Davis came as a surprise. ESPN's Zach Lowe weighed in on the rumor of whether the team should pursue Davis.
During Thursday's episode of “The Bill Simmons Show,” Lowe said there's no reason for the Pistons to trade for AD.
“They have the number two defense in the NBA and they need shots. I don't think they need him,” Lowe said (timestamp: 50:40). “He's not the man I'd give things up for… I don't even know why people are talking about it.
The other team rumored to trade for Anthony Davis is the Houston Rockets. Lowe said the same about the Rockets. According to him, having AD on the team doesn't answer what they need, which is the play from the back court.
