Vikings place JJ McCarthy in concussion protocol

The Vikings placed JJ McCarthy in concussion protocol after he began showing symptoms following Sunday's loss to the Packers.

On Monday, coach Kevin O'Connell offered details on his quarterback situation, but didn't completely rule him out for their Week 13 game.

“We go through the steps and phases,” O'Connell he said according to ESPN. “I'm not ready to make any kind of designation for the game or anything like that. We're going to let the process play out, but at the same time, I think it's important for everyone to know that there's full transparency. I'm going to totally, totally defer to the medical staff and the professionals in this, as well as JJ.”

Kevin O'Connell also said that until McCarthy is back healthy, debutant Max Brosmer will take first-team reps from Carson Wentz is also out for the season due to an injury.

The Vikings will face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at 4:05 PM ET.
