John Cena is ready to bring the curtain down on his in-ring career on December 13 in the Saturday night main event. The Never Seen 17 will face the winner of the Last Time is Now tournament, Gunther, in his final performance as a WWE Superstar.
Prior to his retirement match, Cena was asked if he would ever return, due to the unpredictable nature of professional wrestling retirements. While several stars like Shawn Michaels, Edge and Trish Stratus have come out of retirement for more matches, Cena has doubled down on making this run his last.
Thanks for sending!
In a recent interaction with Sony Sports NetworkCena explained why he won’t have more matches despite admitting that he could possibly have more:
“Yeah, I could probably squeeze in more matches, but at what cost? I hurt myself, I hurt the product, and you as a fan… you leave feeling bad or sad.” (H/T Sony Sports Network)

It remains to be seen if Cena will emerge victorious in his last match or whether Gunther will be able to defeat another legend in his retirement match in Saturday night’s main event.
In a recent interview with Tom RinaldiJohn Cena revealed that he had originally planned up to 200 dates on his retirement tour with WWE. The legend also revealed it he had to shorten it to 36 dates due to promotion plans:
“I wanted to do 200 dates just to say goodbye to everybody. I wanted to try to go everywhere I’ve been to say thank you, and WWE came back and said, ‘We can only do 36.’ And that’s when I said, ‘I think I can balance that with other things, are you okay with me running two lanes?’
John Cena also revealed that he had detailed plans, including a pitch deck for his retirement tour, but the company already had different ideas.
