After 1,250 wins and 12 national champions, it is understandable if Geno Auriemma has the ability to victory. After all, Auriemma, as an architect of the Uconn Women's Basketball Dynasty, has had many opportunities. Maybe it may not be completely amazing to admit title no. 12.
But in an interview with Sportscenter de Espn, Auriemma exactly admitted that. Asked when he learned that his team would win the title of the NCAA tournament, he first broke: “With approximately 1:30 he was in Sunday's game (championship).” But after a rhythm, Auriemma admitted the inner history.
“I mean obviously there are signs. In the middle of the UCLA game (semifinal), we all had an idea of” Wow, we could really be, really good … in two days. If we can replicate – it could be quite surprising “… that the UCLA game is what really made me think,” I don't think anything can happen on Sunday that will do it in a way. ” – Geno Auriemma.
Uconn removed an unusual final end of Four to destroy a couple of first sale of the Final Four in a more impressive way that the Huskies had shown at the beginning of the tournament.
For example, UCONN won its sweet 16 games over Oklahoma 82-59. This ended up being exactly the same marker as the National Victory Party on South Carolina. The Huskies passed ahead of Juju Watkins without USC 78-64 in the elite eight. But they turned and crushed UCLA in the Final Four.
The victory 85-51 established a new record of the Final Four for the margin of the largest victory. Not in vain, this previous record was also celebrated by Uconn with a 33 -point victory over Louisville in the 2013 NCAA title title match.
Winning the last two games of 57 combined points, Uconn surpassed another of its old records, a final of 60 points combined Final Four in 2016.
Uconn exploded a UCLA team for 34 points that had only lost two games (both in USC) throughout the season. The Huskies shot 55% in this game, kept UCLA up to 39% shot and forced 18 Bruin shifts. The Huskies set the score score record despite using bank players for 59 of the 200 total players played.
It is also worth noting that the American center Lauren Betts had a good game against Uconn, marking 26 points in the shot for 11 by 18. Betts also had one turnover. But it is humble to keep in mind that the rest of the UCLA team collectively fired 9 by 34 and, in fact, scored less points than Betts alone.
