There are ongoing negotiations between the New York Mets and Pete Alonso, although the team is hoping for a quick answer.

Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman The New York Post reported on Wednesday that the two sides “are making steady progress on terms of a contract that is expected to last three years and include one option.”

However, he also noted that there is a “significant financial crisis” and that the Mets want a decision “soon” on whether to look elsewhere if they cannot agree to a contract.
