Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley said Friday that he wants to talk to Eagles legend LeSean McCoy about playing in the snow.
According to NFL.com's Bobby KownackBarkley revealed his intention to the media, saying: “I'm going to call Shady just to get some snow. Look at what he did because it's unbelievable how he cut through the snow. You could see he was on a different level.”
The Eagles are set to host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs, and the weather could be a big factor.
Per AccuWeatherthe forecast is calling for between three and six inches of snow on Sunday in Philly, which will likely put a lot of emphasis on the running game for both teams.
Kownack noted that McCoy set the then-Eagles record of 217 rushing yards in a single game against the Detroit Lions in 2013, and did so in the fifth season.
Barkley, who is in the midst of his first season with the Eagles, enjoyed a stellar 2024 campaign, becoming the ninth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards or more.
Included was the Eagles' game-record 255 yards in Week 12 against the Rams. Barkley also set a team record with 302 rushing yards in a game, plus he had 70-plus-yard touchdowns.
The Eagles already have a chance if running the ball will be the key to success on Saturday, but it wouldn't hurt for Barkley to get some advice from McCoy, who is the all-time rushing leader with 6,792 yards. .
Although the weather can be even or divisive at times, Barkley said he isn't too worried, saying: “I'm not really buying the season. They're going to win.”
Execution has been the name of Barkley's game this season, and if he can continue to work in the fifth, the Eagles have a chance to reach their second NFC Championship game in the last three years.
