The College GameDay distributed in Athens for the Ole Miss The Week 8 game against Georgia had some fun moments on Saturday. It was very special for legendary coach Nick Saban to see two of his mentors, Kirby Smart and Lane Kiffin, play each other for an SEC blockbuster. Two of the successful programs are locking horns with equal odds and competitiveness.
To witness the big game, Nick Saban's wife, Terry, and daughter, Kristen, were in the building. During Saturday's broadcast, Pat McAfee asked Terry about the infamous Penn State question that has lingered since James Franklin was fired.
Nick Saban was consistently linked to the top job and pundits predicted he might come out of retirement. However, Terry Saban issued a hilarious response calling Kiffin and Smart “baby coaches” and saying he wouldn't mind Nick coming back, but doesn't want to take the opportunity out of the hands of young coaches.

“I have no doubt that if Nick wanted to coach again, he could win his eighth national championship. But we're having too much fun and we wouldn't want to take that opportunity away from all our baby coaches. Like Kirby and Lane,” Terry Saban laughed, officially shutting down the rumors.
He also mentioned that he had no idea about any contract after Pat McAfee slyly referred to the value of around $50 million.
It has been a bumpy ride for Coach Franklin since joining the program in 2014. In his 12 years at Penn Statehe amassed a 104-45 record, which is quite commendable as the school was under significant restrictions when he was incorporated.
According to Saban, what Franklin has accomplished is massive. Although fans claim that he was unable to win important games, Saban questioned the authority of other teams, questioning whether they were capable of winning such important matchups in a highly competitive league.
“So the next person will have to do the same, but then learn to deal with success and get through the program.
“So it's going to have to be someone who can win over the people who support the program as well as the people you need to bring in, whether it's coaches or players, to be able to get you to that level,” Saban told Pat McAfee on his show Friday.
Marcus FreemanMatt Rhule and Curt Cignetti were some of the prominent names that came up for the Penn State job. However, all three have refused to participate in any type of negotiation.
Penn State still has six games to go in the 2025 season and they don't have a permanent coach.
