Barcelona Coach Hansi Flick has hinted that he agrees with the opinion of fans who favor referees Real Madrid. The German said he did not want to comment on the question, but laughed as soon as the reporter asked the question.
Speaking to the media ahead of Barcelona's UEFA Champions League match against Olympiacos, Flick was asked if he felt referees favored Real Madrid over other clubs. He said (via Barça Universal):
“What can I say? (laughs) I've been here 16 months, you've been here a lot longer and you know more, I don't want to say anything about it.”
Asked about the red card against Girona, Flick said he didn't think about it or the call to be on the bench against Real Madrid this weekend. He wants to focus on the Olympiacos game and said:
“For me, after this game there is work to do because now it's time for the Champions League. We can talk about it on Saturday or after Olympiacos. I said it after the game against Girona: there was nothing against the referee and he decided to see it differently, and that's something I have to accept.”
Flick was sent off in the last minute of the 2-1 win against Girona on Saturday 18 October. Now he is about to be in the stands of the Santiago Bernabéu if the club does not manage to annul his expulsion.
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has revealed that he is against it The LeagueThe decision to move Vila-real-Barcelona to Miami. He believes it distorts the league and playing at a neutral site changes the entire competition and said (via Barça Universal):
“My opinion is the same as two months ago. We are against the game because it distorts the competition. There was no unanimity for it to be played on neutral ground and there was no consultation.”
Speaking about player protests over the decision to move the game to Miami, he added:
“The protests are positive because they show how many clubs feel. We are against this decision being made unilaterally. It could happen if there was unanimity among all the clubs, but it is not.”
Real Madrid lead the table by two points from their match against Barcelona. A win would take them five points ahead, while a loss would take them one point back.
