Strasbourg come into this match in 7th place, just outside the European standings, while Auxerre are in 17th, ten places below.
So which team will come away with the points on Wednesday?
Strasbourg vs Auxerre Head-to-head and key numbers
Strasbourg have won five of their last six meetings with Auxerre, and at home, the only time they have failed to beat this week's visitors in the last two decades was in July 2005.
After a thrilling 3-3 draw with reigning champions PSG on October 17, last week didn't really go in Strasbourg. First, they required top scorer Joaquin Panichelli's late equalizer to rescue a point in a UEFA Conference League tie with Poland's Jagiellonia Bialystok, then were beaten by Lyon, being reduced to ten men in the process.
Auxerre also went down in defeat at the weekend, losing to fellow strugglers Le Havre at home by one goal to nil. Auxerre have lost three of their last four Ligue 1 games and won just one of their last eight.
Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 with seven goals to his name. He has scored five of those goals in his last three league games.
Auxerre's away form is a real cause for concern as they have picked up just a solitary point on their travels this season, losing three of their four away games and scoring just three goals.
Prediction Strasbourg-Auxerre
Strasbourg have not had good results in their last couple of matches, but this is arguably a solid opportunity to get back to their winning ways.
Not only have Auxerre been poor on the road this season, they are also winless in their last four games and have struggled in front of goal throughout.
Strasbourg, meanwhile, have not defended as well as manager Liam Rosenior would have hoped, but have a solid attacking unit and have won three of their four home games in the league.
With that in mind, the prediction is a home win.
Prediction: Strasbourg 2-1 Auxerre

His favorite manager of all time is Terry Venables for creating an England team he could be proud of since he started following football. Although, his current favorite is Ange Postecoglou.
Watching Eric Dier score the winning penalty in England's shoot-out against Colombia at the 2018 World Cup brought him to tears and is his most memorable football moment.
If Scott could change one rule in football, he would remove VAR offside decisions, as he believes offside was not introduced to catch an attacker who is a matter of millimeters. Outside of writing, he follows UFC, trains, spends time with his dog, and travels.
