Satou Sabally reacts with a scathing taunt from Patrick Beverley for a tough CBA negotiation comment

Front Phoenix Mercury Satou Sabally he responded to Patrick Beverley's comment with a scathing sneer. The former Milwaukee Bucks player criticized WNBA players for seeking better pay, but complained about the league's demanding game schedule.

“These players deserve more money, but man, you've got to play off your back,” said pro basketball player Pat Beverley. “Be a part of it… Don't lose me.”

Sabally's response was noticed when she appeared in Glamor magazine's 2025 “Women of the Year” edition.

“I actually laughed at his comment because he's not even in the league,” Satou replied. “That's my first comment. My second comment is to really look at how much they're paid. They're paid to do these things. We don't have a pension. I think we're a long way from comparing the MNBA to the WNBA because they get fairly compensated.”

The three-time WNBA All-star has been one of the most outspoken players on scheduling, roster size, overseas pay, league proposals and financial equity. He singled out his Unmatched earnings to his league's earnings and stated that the league doesn't want players to earn what they deserve.

The league is embroiled in an ACB negotiation with the players. Reports have claimed that no progress has been made so far, with the October 31st deadline.

Satou Sabally defends the rookies

Satou Sabally advocated that rookies get better pay in the new CBA. While no deal is in place yet, he wants to see the rookies get what they deserve, especially with increased playing time.

“I know the league came, but with 300 (thousand),” Sabally said. “Push it up. Push it up. Go up, especially if you want to extend the season (schedule). And now we're talking about extending the season, you've got to go up with those numbers because, honestly, that's what they deserve right now.”

The salary structure of the WNBA has been up for debate. Players have argued that the league's increased popularity should earn them based on their contributions to its growth. Compared to NBA men, WNBA players earn considerably less.

Satou Sabally has earned $710,298 in his six seasons in the league. Last season was the first time in his career that he earned more than $200,000.
