Nice to meet you Episodes 1-2 Recap: A fallen actor's return collides with a journalist's growing grudge and fascination

Nice to meet you starts with failed actor Im Hyun-jun. 15 years ago, rising actor Im made his drama debut. His on-screen romance with his co-actress turns real, but as it becomes a public scandal, she accuses him of obsessing over her in the media. The controversy destroys Hyun-jun's career, forcing him to leave the industry. Since then, he has quietly run a small print shop with his former manager.

One day, Hyun-jun is assigned to deliver magazines and unexpectedly comes face to face with his ex, whose face appears on the cover. The meeting ends bitterly when she makes fun of his fall. In the same restaurant is Wi Jung-sin, a political reporter investigating the suspicious death of an assemblyman linked to corruption.

Drunk and frustrated at not getting a chance in the case, Jung-sin accidentally gets into Hyun-jun's car. When he rants about his ex while driving, she wakes up and, in a panic, accuses him of “kidnapping her.” After this misunderstanding is dissolved, the two paths diverge.

Soon after, a rookie director visits Hyun-jun's print shop with a movie script and recognizes the fallen star. He offers Hyun-jun the lead role in his upcoming independent film. Although hesitant at first, Hyun-joon eventually accepts the offer after the encouragement of his business partner, who is also his former manager. He takes it more as a hobby than a serious comeback.

The film introduces Hyun-joon as a detective, a role that unexpectedly becomes a turning point in his life. The film becomes a massive hit, earning him critical acclaim, major awards and several endorsement deals. Practically overnight, he became a household name again.

The detective role becomes a full-fledged franchise, spanning four seasons. However, as the success of the series continues, Hyun-joon begins to feel trapped. He is frustrated at being stuck as a detective, receiving only similar offers. People assume you're too busy or too tied to the role, which makes it hard to branch out.

After seven years of playing the same character, Hyun-joon feels creatively stifled. He asks his manager to find him something new, something outside the detective genre, like a romantic comedy or a melodrama. But breaking with his image turns out to be more difficult than he expected.

Meanwhile, Wi Jung-sin becomes a seasoned political reporter. It is known for covering major international stories such as wars, crimes and global affairs. His work has earned him multiple awards and wide recognition. But, Jung-sin's relentless pursuit of the MP's case leads to his demotion from political journalism to the entertainment desk.

Furious, she continues to investigate in secret. During a sting operation at a hostess bar, he accidentally bumps into Hyun-jun while hiding in the men's room. Their awkward encounter ends with her phone falling into the toilet and creating a misunderstanding.

Later, Jung-sin attends a movie premiere to confront a businessman connected to the case, with a USB drive full of evidence. Hyun-jun, also at the event, mistakes her actions for an attempted attack and rushes to stop her and heads down the stairs. In the process, her pants rip, revealing her bright red underwear in front of the guests, photographers and reporters gathered there. The embarrassing moment is caught on camera, instantly spreads online and becomes a national meme. Episode 1 of Nice to meet you end here

Episode 2 of Nice to meet you picks up with Hyun-jun's public shaming dominating the headlines. His fall and “red underwear moment” have turned him into a national meme, making him the butt of endless jokes online. Still bubbling, he returns to Korea after finishing some overseas engagements.

Meanwhile, Wi Jung-sin has been officially reassigned to the entertainment desk. He is assigned to cover the return of a K-pop idol from abroad. At the airport, she is overwhelmed and pushed by fans. At that very moment, Hyun-joon also arrives at the airport.

He sees Jung-sin struggling through the crowd, their eyes meeting briefly. Desperate, she asks him for help. For a moment, he seems willing to help her, but before he can act, his manager pulls him away. Seeing him leave without offering help, Jung-sin assumes that he deliberately ignored her, adding another misunderstanding between the two.

Jung-sin receives his next assignment from his publisher to do an exclusive interview with Im Hyun-joon. While her boss treats this as an opportunity for her to redeem herself, Jung-sin sees it differently. Holding a grudge from their previous encounter at the airport and the premiere incidents, she decides to use this interview as an opportunity to “bury” him. Its aim is to expose it negatively through the piece.

However, when Jung-sin finally interviews her, it becomes clear that she hasn't seen his hit detective series. Angry, Hyun-jun ends the interview and tells her to come back after he's seen her. His boss is furious, and in retaliation, Jung-sin starts publishing negative articles about Hyun-jun, reigniting public gossip about his past.

These stories quickly spread online, creating a wave of bad publicity for Hyun-joon. As his fans flood Jung-sin's inbox with hate messages, his boss is thrilled with the increased traffic he sees that his magazine is getting because of his articles.

The wave of negative articles begins to seriously affect Im Hyun-joon's career. Hoping to move beyond his detective image, he begins to pursue diverse roles. But instead of the leading roles in melodramas or romantic comedies that he dreams of, he has only offered meaningless supporting characters like thugs, villains and small cameos. None of this matches his ambitions, and the frustration keeps growing.

To fix the situation, Hyun-joon's manager arranges a meeting between him and the reporters, hoping they can resolve their differences. But the meeting quickly falls apart, as neither Hyun-joon nor Jung-sin are willing to apologize or back down. The tension between them only gets worse.

Afterwards, Jung-sin's boss, seeing his determination, tells him that if he really wants to go after Hyun-joon and “bury” him, he should at least do it properly by investigating him thoroughly. He encourages him to deepen his career. Determined to write about Im Hyun-joon more effectively, Jung-sin begins to watch his famous detective series as part of her research. What starts as work soon turns into fascination.

Meanwhile, Hyun-joon becomes increasingly bitter. Convinced that Jung-sin is the reason for the lack of good offers or no offers and the ruined public image. On the other hand, after watching the entire series overnight, Jung-sin finds herself drawn to his character's charisma and moral conviction. The more he watches, the more he falls in love with the version of him he sees on screen.

The next day in the last scene of Nice to meet you episode 2, he meets Hyun-jun again for another interview and this time she is hypnotized by himunable to separate the actor from his character. When he approaches her, she is speechless. When he asks her to speak for a moment, she agrees nervously, completely captivated by his presence. On this note, Nice to meet you episode 2 comes to an end.
