Khalid recently opened up about his ex-partner, Hugo D Almonte, who came out to him as gay in November last year. He said he wanted to come out on his own terms and that being found out was “upsetting”.
In November 2024, Almonte shared a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), making multiple allegations against the singer. She wrote that Khalid, whose full name is Khalid Donnel Robinson, allegedly gave her pink cocaine and also made allegations of abuse against him. She also ended up outing him as gay.
Robinson denied these allegations to X and confirmed that he is gay. In one interview with Scott Evansposted on November 8, the singer opened up about the incident, saying:
“That shit was annoying as shit, to put it bluntly. It was really annoying because this is not where I live my own life — to have a situation from five years ago come up on a public platform where you have to defend yourself by word of mouth. I really wanted to prove my point, and finally I said, I don't mind.”
“I didn't want to write this long paragraph and say, 'I'm out now.' I said, I'm going to tweet the gay flag. Like, whatever. I'm gay. Let's move on,” he added.
The singer added that he initially wanted to defend himself, but later chose to accept the revelation and move on.

On November 22, 2024, Khalid shared a post on X with a rainbow flag and wrote more:
“There you go. next topic please lol”
When a user asked:
“Hope Mr. Khalid isn't GEHHH!”
The singer confirmed that he is before writing in another post:
“I'm done and the world's still spinning. Let's go (lmao) I'm not ashamed of my sexuality! It's nobody's business really! But I'm fine with me. I love you”
Three days after that, the singer criticized his ex-partner Hugo D Almonte's accusations against him. He shared a series of posts on X as he sought to clear up allegations of cocaine use and pay-for-sex. He wrote:
“I've never done cocaine a day in my life. I don't put myself in those settings. I'm not in those environments. I smoke weed and drink a little.”
In another post, he added:
“I've never paid for sex a day in my life. Never. I've never paid anyone to date me. I've never paid anyone to be in a relationship with me.”
“I've never publicly accused anyone of breaking into my home, and the only people who even know about a breakup are my inner circle.”
Slaming D Almonte added:
“The only reason I'm clarifying all of this is because… it's triggering me to see the few comments from people painting me as a manipulative abuser. It's crazy to me.”
Khalid has also claimed that the last time he spoke to D Almonte was “four years ago”, adding that these allegations are “accidental”.
