Ben Shelton's girlfriend Trinity Rodman opens up about relationship issues early in their relationship and how they overcame the 'tough' times

Ben Shelton's girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, recently opened up about the early struggles of their relationship. She claimed they went through “tough” times and Shelton helped her overcome her “psychotic behaviors.”

During a recent episode of “Friendlies,” hosted by Sam Mewis, Rodman talked about a turbulent period early in his relationship with Shelton. He recalled how it coincided with “the most difficult time” of his life and described the start of their relationship as “a difficult time for Ben”.

“I would say Ben was really big on that support, and it's really funny because it was like the beginning of our relationship. A tough time for Ben. It was literally like the beginning of our relationship. I'm going through, like, the hardest time of my life… I'm so happy that I got through it,” Rodman said.

Rodman also admitted that Shelton handled his erratic behavior during that time. In his words:

“He gave me a lot of support, and obviously I was with him, I supported him when he was going through it, which I think was really good for me because I was still able to be in the competitive environment. So it was a good balance, and then he understands that and he understands me and he dealt with my psychotic behaviors because he was like that every day. I'm very happy that he was there for me,” she added.

Shelton and Rodman started with a playful track online in early March 2025. Both dropped cryptic TikTok videos set to the same song a few days before the release. Instagram official with a selfie in an elevator.

Since then, their mutual support has become very visible in the public eye. Rodman has attended Shelton's tennis matchesand similarly, Shelton has shown up to cheer on Rodman at a Washington Spirit NWSL game.

Ben Shelton has often expressed admiration for Trinity Rodman's dedication and competitiveness on the football field. Reflecting on their relationship, in an interview with Vogue in August 2025, the tennis star said it has been “really cool” for both of them to experience each other's professional worlds.

“I think it's great for both of us to be able to see each other in our respective sports and, you know, witness what it takes and how hard it is to stay at the top… The soccer life, the US women's national team, was a new thing for me, and I've enjoyed the opportunity to get to know it and learn more about her life in it,” said Ben Shelton.
