Carl Edwards He recently reflected on the dramatic events that led him to lose the 2016 Nascar Cup Championship. In an interview shared by Dirty Mo Media a X, Edwards discussed the chaos that surrounded this race and as he ended up losing the title.
The video, posted as part of an interview on the Download of Dale Jr.Show Carl Edwards talking about his unforgettable experience at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Edwards recalled how his motorhome was broken down and things went wrong and off the court. Despite having the car faster, he mentioned almost colliding with Danica Patrick During practice. He described a crucial moment when a bad stop or mistake from him dropped behind the rhythm of the car. He recalled vividly his crew head, Dave Rogers, reassuring it on the radio.
“Danica and I almost devastated. We had the car faster and it was that crazy thing. In the middle of the race, we had a bad stop of pits, towards the end, or I did a little screw and remember that I pulled out, weaving behind the car rhythm, thinking that I did it, I left everything I worked, everything I worked on, I never forget Dave Rogers, coming on the radio and saying, “We got just where we want to”, Edwards shared.
Carl Edwards advanced, overcoming all its competitors. But the final precaution turned out to be the turning point. Admitted to feel that the universe was against, adding:
“It was like the end of saying, cursed, you are not supposed to win this thing.”
He even accused Nascar of launching precautions to make the race more exciting, calling -“a fact”. However, over time, he saw it differently, realizing that it was the push he needed to move away from the races. Edwards admitted that losing the title helped him understand that driving was not his true call.
After almost a decade of Nascar, Carl Edwards is UploadBut not as a driver. It joins the Amazon Prime Video Nascar team as a study analyst with Danielle Trotta and Corey Lajoie. It will cover a package of five races from Coca-Cola 600 on May 25, followed by races in Nashville, Michigan, Pocono and Mexico City.
In an interview with Nascar Siriusxm radio, Carl Edwards explained why he agreed to return. For years he rejected offers to join the spread cottage, but the limited calendar of five races was reconsidered.
“I was in Hong Kong on this separate thing,” said Edwards. “And Randy Fuller said,” Hey, Amazon will do some of these races. It's five races and they want to talk to you. “And it caught my attention at that time.
Amazon's team flew to Missouri to meet Edwards, a rare event as it rarely hosted meetings at home. But he felt an instant connection with the crew.
“We basically ran in Columbia, Missouri and made my normal day. And I realized that this is a part of the family. Just as the family I want to be part of. Fresh people, actually care about sport,” he added.
Edwards appreciated that the team did not focus on “dresses and ties and numbers”. Instead, they wanted to cover the fun for the fans. For those who have lost the vision and charisma of Carl Edwards, their return, even behind the counter, will be a welcome view.
