CFB fans react wildly to reveal of College GameDay guest picker for Week 9 Nashville broadcast

Nate Bargatze is College GameDay's guest selector for the show's upcoming broadcast from Nashville, Tennessee. Bargatze was announced Thursday as the College GameDay guest receiver for Missouri at Vanderbilt.

The Nashville-born comedian is a big fan of Vanderbilt, with his mother, Carol, having worked at the commodoresbox office Bargatze's selection as this weekend's College GameDay guest picker has sparked reactions among fans online, particularly at X. Joshua he commented:

“Yeeeeez. The Charmin brand of comics.”

Blake Fromang he wrote:

“He came in and performed for us while I was on the team. I honestly won't find a more Vandy fan from day one. Best possible pick.”

Eric from Galt's Gulch he remarked:

“Congratulations on getting a guest selector that actually makes sense. Fun, famous, legit home team fan.”

Pirate too he commented:

“Do they keep bringing comedians into Vandy games because it's comedy that they're even good enough to host College GameDay?”

Bama conservative he wrote:

“Picking a well-known home team fan is a real gamble. They should go with the away team fan pick. They really smelled that pick.”

Garrett added:

“I love how they had to add 'and a Vanderbilt fan' because of all the drama with the last picks.”

Has Nate Bargatze been a College GameDay guest pick before?

This weekend will be Bargatze's second appearance on College GameDay as a guest. The 46-year-old comedian has previously been a guest selector on the set of College GameDay on Nov. 4, 2023, when Alabama hosted LSU.

Many wouldn't be surprised if Bargatze picks the Commodores on Saturday, and not just because he's a big fan of the team. Vanderbilt has been impressive this season, entering Week 9 with a 6-1 record.

Although they were defeated by Alabama in their first matchup in October, the Commodores bounced back against LSU last weekend. While the team will be looking to continue their streak against the Tigers on Saturday, it will be a tough challenge.

Missouri also enters Saturday's game 6-1, its only loss also coming against the Crimson Tide. Among their losses in this campaign are Auburn, South Carolina and UMass. Vanderbilt's November schedule will see it face Texas, Auburn, Kentucky and rival Tennessee.

The team's survival amid the tough schedule next month will go a long way in determining whether it earns a spot in the College Football Playoff.
