Cody Bellinger has become one of the top free agents in the 2025 offseason. While the New York Yankees are aggressively pursuing him, the Mets, the reigning World Series champion LA Dodgers, and the Blue Jays are all on the trail.
In addition, with Trent Grisham accepting the Yankees' $22 million qualifying offer, many question New York's chances of retaining Bellinger among the contenders for his signature.
In an interview Tuesday, Bellinger's agent, Scott Boras, hinted at a Bellinger-LA reunion with a projected five-to-six-year, $150 million contract. Bellinger spent his first six MLB seasons in LA, where he won the NL MVP and a World Series ring.

“Cody had a great experience here,” Boras said. “Rookie of the year, MVP, and he was in Hollywood. I think players who have those experiences are very welcoming of any place like that.”
Fans are divided over the reunion rumor, with many against the idea. An X user said:
“The Dodgers aren't stupid to get someone they didn't tender because of his injury and bad years paying him 30 million would be stupid.”
“Bellinger looks a lot different from his Dodgers days. Sometimes you can't rekindle what's happened,” added another.
“Thanks, but tough pass,” noted another.
“Didn't Boras blame the Dodgers for not helping Cody recover from his injuries? GTFOH,” asked another.
“Yeah, there's no way I'm coming back,” wrote another.
Although some loved the idea of seeing Bellinger Dodger blue, his defensive slump made him questionable. An X user said:
“I love Bellinger. But can he still hit interior thirds? If not, pass.”
“Let's goooo!” another pointed out.

Earlier this month, Cody Bellinger exercised his $25 million contract opt-out through the 2026 season. However, he admitted he would be “absolutely” open to meeting with the Yankees for another postseason run.
“It was a fun group to be a part of,” Cody Bellinger said after the Yankees were eliminated in the ALDS. “We fell short, and that part stinks, because we had a really, really good group here.”
After the Yankees acquired the outfielder from the Cubs, the 30-year-old posted 29 HR, 98 RBI and an .814 OPS in 152 games last season. Brian Cashman had high praise for his performance with the team, saying he was one of the reasons the team made the postseason.
