Eagles great LeSean McCoy praises Bears HC Ben Johnson after D'Andre Swift's TD on Black Friday


After watching running back D'Andre Swift's power play on the game's first touchdown Friday, former Philadelphia Eagles standout LeSean McCoy praised Chicago bones head coach Ben Johnson. McCoy credited Johnson's creativity in the ground game when Chicago struck first against Philadelphia.

Johnson leads Chicago in his first season as an NFL coach. The first running back shared his reaction on Friday X as the game progressed into the second quarter.

Ben Johnson leaned heavily on his approach to the ground, mixing gap concepts and movement elements to create angles on the line of scrimmage. Swift followed tight end Cole Kmet, sealing the lead on the decisive score, and kicker Cairo Santos kicked the extra point.

Chicago had also moved the ball effectively on the first possession of the game, but a fourth-down attempt was overturned after a review, leaving the Bears empty-handed on their first opportunity. The coaching staff opted to stay aggressive instead of attempting a long field goal in windy conditions that challenged both teams.

The matchup had postseason implications, with Chicago and Philadelphia entering the game tied near the top of the NFC standings.

Philadelphia immediately stopped on its opening drive. Jalen hurts connected with AJ Brown for a first down. The possession ended abruptly when the quarterback was forced to throw the ball under pressure to avoid a sack, sending the punt drive.

The game also marked D'Andre Swift's first appearance in Philadelphia since leaving the Eagles in free agency after one season.
