The Golden State Valkyrie faced the Sparks of the in a game of the WNBA Commissioner's Cup at Crypto.com Arena. Kate Martin's Valkyries participated in the competition with a record of 3-5, while Kelsey Plum's sparks stood at 3-6.
Golden State opened the game with an initial line from Kayla Thornton, Janelle Salaun, Temi Fagbenle, Julie Vanloo and Veronica Burton. Meanwhile sparks started with Rickea jacksonDearic Hamby, Azura Stevens, Kelsey Plum and Odyssey Sims.
The Valkyries came out strong in the first quarter, with Fagbenle established the tone offensively by marking four fast buckets to give their team an advantage. However, the sparks responded behind veteran Hamby, who brought the goal load with nine points to return to the home team and reduce the deficit to 25-23 at halftime.
