Gunther ran over the WWE Universe before tonight’s episode of RAW in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The former Imperium leader wrestled John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday night main event during the weekend.
The Ring General forced Cena into his final WWE match at SNME, leaving many fans in disbelief. The former champion reveled in his disappointment on Instagram earlier today, sharing a video of fans reacting to the end of Cena’s run, with a three-word message attached as well.
Thanks for sending!
“When reality hits…”
John Cena had a brief reign as Intercontinental Champion last month. He defeated Dirty Dom on the November 10 edition of RAW to become the champion, but lost it to The Judgment Day star at Survivor Series 2025. Liv Morgan returned to the PLE last month and helped Mysterio capture the Intercontinental Championship for the second time.
Gunther recently shared his thoughts on WWE fans giving him backlash during his rivalry with John Cena.
In an interview with New York Post Sportsthe veteran he shared that he enjoyed antagonizing fans and thrived on their reactions. Gunther was escorted out of the arena by security after pinning Cena in Saturday Night’s Main Event.
“I don’t mind. I came out on Raw on Monday to send him some words like the only chance I had, and I could feel this energy from the crowd, where it’s like they don’t want me to be there and claim this for me. But I enjoyed it. I think that’s great. That’s why I’m here, to antagonize people, to antagonize them, to feel antagonized, to feel against me. I’ve been successful, and I’m scared of that.”
Many fans in attendance at Saturday night’s main event were not happy with how John Cena’s career ended and loudly booed Triple H as he arrived at the ring. It will be fascinating to see what WWE has planned for Gunther on RAW after his monumental win.
