Is Jasprit Bumrah playing in IND vs SA 2025 3rd T20I today?

Jasprit Bumrah missed out as India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav announced the playing eleven for the third T20I against South Africa at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 14. Harshit Rana has replaced him in the playing eleven.

At the toss, Yadav said Bumrah was unavailable due to personal reasons. He added that Kuldeep Yadav has replaced Axar Patel like the second change. The Indian skipper said in the draw (via cricbuzz):

“We have made two forced changes. Axar Patel misses out because he is unwell, and Jasprit Bumrah for personal reasons at home. Harshit Rana comes in and Kuldeep Yadav comes in.”

Later, the BCCI gave an official update on Bumrah and Axar. They wrote to X:

“Axar Patel unavailable for third T20I due to illness”.

“Jasprit Bumrah has returned home due to personal reasons and will not be available for the game. An update on his inclusion in the squad for the remaining matches will be provided in due course,” the post added.

The loss of Jasprit Bumrah is a huge loss for the Men in Blue after their 51-run defeat in the first match of the series. The speedster recently became the second Indian after Arshdeep Singh to complete 100 wickets in T20Is. Meanwhile, Harshit Rana has bagged five wickets in as many T20Is, but at an economical rate of 10.69. Recently, he took four wickets in the three-match ODI series against the Proteas, which India won 2-1.

No Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel as India opt to play South Africa in 3rd T20I

India skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to play against South Africa in the third T20I. Justifying his decision, he said during the draw (via Cricbuzz):

“We’re going to play first. It’s been a good wicket all weekend, and I don’t think it’s going to change much, but there’s a bit of dew already, and we think it might be heavier later on. So, we’re happy to play first.”

Yadav said the men in blue will look to bounce back after losing the second T20I:

“If we stay on for the three hours, it’s going to be key for us. It looks like a good pitch.”

Meanwhile, South Africa also made three changes. Corbin Bosch, Anrich Nortje and Tristan Stubbs replaced David Miller, George Linde and Lutho Sipamla respectively.

The five-match series between the two teams is currently tied at 1-1. India won the series opener by 101 runs in Cuttack.
