Islam Makhachev, Renato Moicano next best fights after UFC 311 results | News, results, highlights, stats and rumours

This probably isn't the last big fight we'll see Moican in. Stepping in on short notice to keep Makhachev on the pay-per-view card won't be forgotten by the UFC.

This will lead to at least one more big fight. If the UFC wants to give him another chance to earn the title, then it might mean him fighting his original match. He was supposed to fight Beneil Dariush before switching to the card at the last minute.

Dariush has been at the top of the lightweight rankings for a long time and the winner would have a good case to be in the title eliminator if not in the title fight.

If Moicano is more interested in just chasing a big name fight, then Dustin Poirier could be in the mix. Diamant is still one of the biggest draws in the division and is also losing to Islam Makhachev.

A matchup between the two title challengers would give the winner significant momentum to get back in line.

Then there's Paddy Pimblett. Moicano and the British star have some history as Moicano cried Pimblett after his victory over Benoit Saint Denis. The fight didn't materialize then, but it could be a big deal in 2025.

Pimblett continues to see his star on the rise and Moicano made a name for himself in this fight against the champion.

Perhaps his desire to fight Pimblett will be his reward for accepting the challenge.
