World number 1 Jannik Sinner He will continue his campaign in Wimbledon with his quarter -final game against tenth Shelton seed.
After his loss of open French finals against Carlos AlcarazSinner traveled to Halle by the Wortmann Earth Open. Despite being the overwhelming favorite, he could not defend his title. Instead, his campaign reached a premature end after a second round of 6-3, 3-6, 4-6 against the eventual champion Alexander bubik.
Sinner was redeemed with dominant performances in Wimbledon, passing ahead of Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic and Pedro Martinez in straight sets. However, he received the scare of his life during his fourth round against Grigor Dimitrovlosing the opening two sets.
Unfortunately, Dimitrov had to retreat to half a game due to an injury to his right-wing area. Sinner, despite his elbow topic himself, advanced to his seventh consecutive end of Grand Slam.
Shelton, meanwhile, has had a long trace, registering a record of wins/losses of 2-3 in three tournaments: Stuttgart, Queen's Club and Mallorca. Despite subpar performance in Wimbledon's accumulation, Americans' confidence did not break. It has been at its best at SW19, reaching the last 8 stages of the tournament with only a fallen set.
The sinner drives his head 5-1. He also won his most recent confrontation 7-6 (2), 6-2, 6-2 in the Australian Open semifinals of 2024.
(Will be added to the odds when available)
Jannik Sinner would normally be the preferred head in this match. However, it should be noted that he fought with an injury to the elbow in his previous confrontation against Dimitrov. During the first game of the opening team, Sinner saw himself taking the right elbow after a hard fall.
“It was a very unfortunate fall,” Sinner told the press conference. “I checked a little the videos and did not find it hard, but I still felt quite a bit, especially in the service and the head.”
The injury clearly affected its performance in service. Sinner disembarked only 58% of his first attendance, a 62% average fall he kept during his first three games. He also recorded three double faults, almost double the above average of 1.6, in the toll light that could have taken place in his game.
Ben SheltonIn the meantime, he has been dominant in the service of all Wimbledon, with an average of 13.1 donkeys per game. His powerful service could have problems with a wounded sinner, which allows him to steal a set. However, if Sinner is enough to bring the court, it is expected to advance to the semifinals.
Pick: Sinner to win in four sets.
