Lando Norris addressed the very spoken and controversial “papaya rules”, a rumor rule that puts a driver in one advantageous position on another. Speaking of this, Norris erased the air and stated that there was no papaya rules in McLaren.
The question of Papaya's rules appeared once again this week after McLaren ordered Piastri to fall and return his position to Norris around 49 of the Italian GP race. The team's order came after Norris had a slow stop around 47, which eradicated his advantage.
To eliminate their mistake during the 5.9 -second grave stop, McLaren ordered drivers to change, after the F1 brotherhood was wild with speculations on the papaya rules. However, according to Lando Norris, there is no rule.
“There are no longer papaya rules,” Norris told Dazn. “We have never had them.
After that, Norris added,
“It feels like a long time, even if it is short, but it is something out of my control. I can do nothing about it. It's not what I want or what the team wants. It makes things complicated and complicate the positions.”
“But this is what everyone as a team, the two drivers decided it was correct if it happened. He had to be corrected. If he had passed to Oscarscar. We would have done exactly the same,” said the British driver.
When the race ended, Lando Norris ended in P2, behind the race winner Max verstappen. While his teammate, Oscar Piastri, returned home to P3, ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell.
McLaren's CEO, Zak Brown, once explained the principles of the controversial and very speakers of papaya rules. Explaining the rule, here is what Brown said:
“Get to know each other respectfully and give -you have enough room and don't touch you.”
Formula 1 has seen numerous cases where teammates crashed with each other and forgot the hard work of the team that weekend. Max Verstappen Versus Daniel Ricciardo In the Azerbaijan GP 2018, or Nico Rosberg towards Lewis Hamilton, in the Spanish GP of 2016, there are multiple cases.
As a result, it should not be surprised if McLaren, a team that has two pilots worthy of the championship, has a rule that prevents drivers from crashing on each other. The Woking team is currently leading the building championship with 617 points. Oscar Piastri leads the championship of pilots with 324 points ahead of his teammate, Lando Norris (293 points), after 16 races and three sprints.
