Liverpool star Darwin Nunez seems to like social media post asking him to move to UCL rivals

Liverpool Striker Darwin Núñez has liked a social media post linking him with a move to Champions League club AC Milan. Nunez, who has struggled to secure regular game time under new manager Arne Slot, has been linked with a possible move to the Italian giants during the January window.

The Uruguayan striker joined the Reds in 2022, following his record £85million move from Benfica. However, he has fallen short of high expectations and is currently behind Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz in the Slot pecking order.

AC Milan TMN previously reported that the club had opened talks with Liverpool over a mid-season loan deal, which would include an obligation to buy in the summer for £37.4m. This speculation will no doubt gain more traction after Núñez liked an Instagram story that featured him in an AC Milan shirt.

Although Milan is still strongly linked with Darwin Núñez, a contrasting report from the post offices Simon Jones suggests that Liverpool have not received any communication from the Italian club about a potential transfer.

Meanwhile, Arne Slot himself has expressed his confidence in the striker's ability to influence games.

“For me, he has an impact. If you just look at the goals, he hasn't scored the amount of goals he wants to score, or we want him to score a new number, but he has an impact on his work rate. He is part of a team that he scores a lot of goals and is winning a lot,” he said (via BBC)

Liverpool are in good form and currently occupy the top spot in the Premier League table. They maintain a six-point lead over the second-placed team arsenalwho have played one more match than the Reds.

The Liverpool legend shares his thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential exit

Although Núñez has been linked with a move, several reports suggest that Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold could be heading to Real Madrid next summer. The full-back's contract expires at the end of the season, which will allow him to start negotiations with other clubs this month.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragherin a post on social media platform X, he stressed that the club and its players should remain focused on winning the Premier League, where they currently hold a significant lead.

“The most important thing for @LFC in 2025 is to win the #PremierLeague. Nobody's contract or future should come in the way of that! I love Trent as a lad and a player but his team would have told the Real Madrid to apply. And he would have known that LFC would reject it. It's to try to cover himself when he goes up for free,” he tweeted.

The Reds are preparing for a series of challenging fixtures this month, starting with a crucial clash against Manchester United at Anfield on January 5. They will then travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on January 8.
