Former Chicago Bulls star Michael JordanThe former woman, Juanita Vanoy, cried the death of the former director of sports marketing of Basketball Nike Global Global George Raveling. It was announced on Monday that Raveling had died after his battle with cancer. She was 88 years old.
Raveling was one of the people behind Jordan's historical agreement with Nike. In the 2023 movie “Air”, the famous comic Marlon Wayans was launched to perform it.
Raveling was also a collegiate coach. The executive served as a coach helping the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, which included a young Michael Jordan.

“There is no words to fully capture what George meant for his family, friends, colleagues, former players and assistants, and in the world,” read an Instagram publication. “You will miss it deeply, but its aura, energy, divine presence and timeless wisdom live in all those who touched and transformed … At this moment of mourning, our family kindly demands privacy and prayer as we navigate this difficult transition.”
Vanoy shared the publication in his Instagram history, crying with the death of one of the people who played an important role in his former Marit's basketball career.
Even Wnba legend Lisa Leslie It was puzzled from the news of Raveling's death. He commented on Instagram's publication, showing the penalty on the tragic update.
“Nooooo! We lost a real gem! A king! A mentor, coach, a leader and a friend ❤️❤️ 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️”, said Leslie.
Raveling appeared in “The Rich Eisen Show” in March, where he spoke of recruiting Michael Jordan in Nike. According to him, they closed during the 1984 Olympic Games. At that time, Jordan was with Adidas. Despite the efforts of the assistant coach, the sixth NBA champion was loyal to the German brand.
“That summer, Michael and I were almost inseparable,” said Raveling. “During that summer, I found it to be an excellent person to be in the Nike family.”
The key to recruiting Jordan was the promise of an author's shoe. The Nike Agreement offered to the Famer Hall a different path to the star. However, Adidas was not interested in matching the offer.
Raveling told Eisen that Jordan's mother, Deloris Jordan, was the one who convinced him to give Nike a chance. After his mother's advice, Michael Jordan made the best decision of his life. To date, their signature shoes are still iconic, shaping the sneakers that many people know and love.
