Mohammed Siraj struck twice at the same time during the second session on Day 1 of the opening Test between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, November 14. Kyle Verreynne lbw out for 16 before falling Marco Jansen for a duck
The dismissals came in the 45th over of the Proteas' first innings. Siraj started the over with a bounce that came late to the batsman and hit Verreynne on the back in front of the stumps. The field umpire awarded it, but the batsman went for a review, and replays showed the ball would have crashed into the center stump. It was the horrendous second review where the ball hit the middle stump, including Wiaan Mulder to Kuldeep Yadav.
Siraj then threw Jansen through the gates. The pacer bowled a length ball that drifted to the left but Jansen was late on the front foot defending.

With the scalps, Siraj joined Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep on the wicket tally after going wicketless in the first session.
A clinical bowling display from Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav left the Proteas reeling on Day 1 of the first Test. Bumrah removed openers Ryan Rickelton (23) and Aiden Markram (31) after sharing a 57-run partnership for the opening wicket. He then dismissed Tony de Zorzi lbw for 24. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav struck twice to dismiss skipper Temba Bavuma (3) and Wiaan Mulder (24). Siraj then took two quick wickets.
At the time of writing, the tourists were 151/7 after 48 overs, with Corbin Bosch and Tristan Stubbs at the crease. World Test champions South Africa have not won a Test match in India since their victory in 2010. They are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw in Pakistan.
Conversely, India registered a 2-0 win against the West Indies at home in their previous Test series. The Shubman Gill-led side remain favorites to clinch another Test series.
