New dates announced for the Kabaddi Championship of Asian Women 2025 in Tehran

The Kabaddi Asian Federation has officially confirmed the new dates of the sixth edition of the Asian Women's Kabaddi Championship. The tournament will now take place from March 4 to 9, 2025, in Tehran, Iran. The Iranian capital, which once hosted the second edition in 2007, becomes the first city to stage the event twice.

The tournament was initially scheduled for Tehran from February 20 to 25, but the dates were reviewed due to a programming conflict with the Kabaddi National Championship in India. The organizers launched the event for almost two weeks and the new dates have officially confirmed.

The competition will see 12 teams that bet on the continental title, with the champions defending India with the aim of preserving their supremacy. India has been the most successful team in the history of the tournament, winning four of the five editions that have been celebrated so far. The only time India failed to win gold was in 2016 when South Korea won the title in SOIL HOME.

The last edition of the tournament took place in 2017 when India defeated South Korea in the final to regain its crown in Gorgan, Iran. After eight years, the Indian team will defend its title again.

Kabaddi Asian Championship to serve as preparation for the Women's Kabaddi World Cup

The Kabaddi 2025 Kabaddi Asian Championship will also serve as a crucial platform ahead of the Women's Kabaddi World Cup, which will take place at the end of this year in Bihar, India. With the global event on the horizon, the Continental Championship will provide the teams the opportunity to refine their preparations against the highest Asian competitors.

Despite being one of the main events in Kabaddi Femení, the tournament has been celebrated sporadically since its inception in 2005. This will be only the sixth edition in almost two decades. However, with the last edition finally confirmed, the organizers hope to establish a more consistent calendar for the future.
