New weapon subfamily and archetypes revealed for Destiny 2: Renegades


Destiny 2's Renegades expansion will include a new weapon subfamily, along with two new archetypes. As shown in the recent equipment trailer for the expansion, players can expect a warm-up mechanic on some of the upcoming weapons. However, this mechanic wasn't just implemented into existing archetypes, it was always intended for a new set of gear.

In the recent November 6th blog post, Bungie revealed the new heat weapon subfamily, with dynamic and balanced archetypes under these weapons. This article lists the weapons and how they will work in Renegades.

Destiny 2: Renegades introduces a heat generation archetype for weapons

The new Heat weapons in the game will not have magazines and will be manually controlled by the user for a shorter windup animation. Increased weapon overheat leads to more sustained venting. This asks new statistics also, included heat generated, Cooling efficiency, i Ventilation speed.

Under the new Heat Generated subfamily, two new archetypes will also be added, incl dynamic i balanced. Here's what they provide:

  • Dynamics: Higher base damage. It generates more heat. Cools down faster between shots.
  • Balanced: Very low heat generation. High temperature manual ventilation greatly increases the ventilation rate.

Note that any weapon in this subfamily that contains primary ammo will deal more damage to powerful fighters. This includes mini-bosses, champions and elites.

Here is a list of all the new weapons under the archetype:

  • Modified B-7 pistol hand barrel, Stasis, dynamic archetype.
  • All or nothing pulse rifleStrand, Dynamic Archetype.
  • M-17 “Fast Talker” submachine gun.Stasis, Balanced Archetype.
  • Compact defender, sidearm, Void, dynamic archetype.
  • Special hand cannon of uncivil speech, Arch, dynamic archetype.
  • Refurbished A499 Heavy Sniper Rifle, Kinetics.
  • Praxic Blade Special Sword, Kinetic and exotic weapon.
  • Inheritance, Special Crossbow, Solar weapon, exotic.

Renegades is set to release on December 2, 2025.
