NFL fans react as CJ Stroud is ruled out of TNF game against Bills

The Houston Texans will be without their star quarterback CJ Stroud against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season. The Texans will begin the week Thursday at NRG Stadium.

In the midst of a two-game winning streak, the AFC South team faces a big challenge against a Bills team that is coming off a 44-32 shootout victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the Texans won't have Stroud and safety Jalen Pitre against Josh Allen and Co., Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

NFL fans reacted to the announcement on social media, with some claiming it meant DeMeco Ryans would start David Mills over CJ Stroud even as he cleared concussion protocol.

Others went further and said Mills would dominate Josh Allen while reducing Stroud's contributions.

“Davis Mills takes over starting job,” a fan he said

“If the Texans lose, watch people pretend Stroud has magically fixed everything.” another fan he said

“Davis Mills exposing Josh Allen”, another fan he said

The Houston Texans remain in the race to win the AFC South despite a remarkable season by the Indianapolis Colts (8-2) and the resurgence of the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4). They will face a tough challenge against the Bills, but Sean McDermott's team has been beaten before this season.

How has David Mills been replacing CJ Stroud?

The Houston Texans are in the midst of a two-game winning streak. They have won three of the four games Mills has played in, including a 44-10 win against the Baltimore Ravens in October and a three-point loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 9.

Mills has taken over the past two games, first going 27-for-45 for 292 yards and two touchdowns against an interception and two sacks in a 36-29 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He added three carries for 20 yards and a touchdown.

On Sunday, he completed 26 of 41 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown in a 16-13 win over the Tennessee Titans. Mills carried the ball twice for 14 yards.

The Texans have stayed afloat despite not having it CJ Stroud in the field A win against the Bills would raise their expectations and perhaps start a conversation about who should start at quarterback moving forward.
