NFL fans troll Johnny Manziel because ex-Browns QB doesn’t show up as College GameDay guest host

Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was surprisingly replaced as the guest selector on ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday for Texas A&M’s first-round game against Miami. Since Manziel was a no-show, Alex Caruso, a two-time NBA champion who played basketball at Texas A&M, stepped in as a guest receiver.

College GameDay said last night that Johnny Manziel would be today’s celebrity guest, but now the chart says it’s Alex Caruso. I wonder what happened there.

When fans on social media discovered that Manziel had been in the Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami the night before he missed his “GameDay” appearance, they had a number of reactions.

“Probably too hungover or arrested,” tweeted one.

“Manziel was 100% lost in Miami and missed his flight,” added another.

“He got drunk,” commented a third.

Here are some more reactions.

“He must be working on his quest to join the PGA TOUR,” one wrote.

“He doesn’t wake up for an 11:00 a.m. game,” added another.

“It happened Friday night in College Station,” one user tweeted.

ESPN did not disclose a reason for Manziel’s strange absence from the show, which was being broadcast live from Kyle Field to preview the Texas A&M-Miami game.

Manziel had posted to his Instagram story on Friday night several ringside photos of Joshua’s win over Paul. However, he did not share any statement or information on social media about not showing up for “GameDay.”
