Nick Wright called out media coverage of Shedeur Sanders after he finally made his Cleveland Browns debut during Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
On Tuesday's episode of his podcast called “What Wright,” he discussed the lack of credibility in the reports circulating about Coach Prime's son. He called some of the content creators and other media people's take on Shedeur “Idiots.”
“I think Twitter has warped people's brains and their ability to talk about Shedeur Sanders,” Wright said. “What you have and what Twitter has rewarded from content creators is the dumbest thing Shedeur Sanders has to be so amplified and so forced on anyone who has any kind of sports algorithm.

“There are people who know better or at least should know better, polluting the public discourse with nonsensical misinformation. This is one of the few things where it's really a bipartisan issue. You have people gaining traction and engagement by finding anything imaginable to criticize Shedeur … because that involves engagement.

“And then you have on the other end, people act like it takes some grand conspiracy for a fifth-round pick, a third-string quarterback, to not get reps with the starting offense when it's totally reasonable . . .”
The Browns acquired Shedeur Sanders with the 144th overall pick in this year's NFL draft. He was initially the third option behind veteran Joe Flacco and the rookie Dillon Gabriel on the depth chart. However, after Flacco was traded to the Bengals and Gabriel was named QB1, Coach Prime's son took over as the backup.
Shedeur entered Sunday's game against the crows in the second half after Gabriel suffered a concussion. He finished the night completing four of 16 passes for 47 yards and an interception.
On Monday's episode of his show, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith discussed Shedeur's debut against the Ravens. He highlighted the rookie quarterback's disappointing showing and questioned his fit as a pro in the NFL.
Smith also questioned the Browns for their lack of preparation with their backup quarterback option.
“I don't know if Shedeur Sanders is an NFL player or not, and I don't blame anyone for assuming or assuming that he might not be,” Smith said. “But how does he get zero snaps with the first team? How can a player say he wasn't familiar with that snap count? He wasn't prepared at all. You're getting QB2, your QB1 is an undersized guy, one hit away from being concussed and taken out of the game.
“Kevin Stefanski is a two-time NFL coach of the year. He knows a thing or two about coaching football. How unprepared was Shedeur?”
With Dillon Gabriel in concussion protocol, Shedeur is he is expected to play his first full game as the Browns QB1 in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
