Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby each scored 27 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 112-98 home victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
Towns returned from a one-game absence (right knee injury) to jointly lead the team in scoring, adding 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, this was a huge game for Anunobi, who played in Toronto for six-plus seasons before being traded to New York on Dec. 30, 2023, along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a second-round pick 2024 draft pick.
Anunoby has struggled in the Knicks’ last two games, scoring just 21 points on 9-of-23 shooting (2-of-9 from three).
Still, he was sensational Wednesday, hitting 8-of-13 shots (4-of-6 from three) while making 7-of-8 free throws.
Anunoby made one of the best plays of the game, stealing the ball from Barrett and hitting a 3-pointer at the other end to give New York a 66-58 lead in the third quarter.
He also helped turn this game into a rout in the fourth quarter, which began with New York leading 86-76. The Knicks eventually took a 112-86 lead, and Anunoby added four points, including this dunk:
The final score was a bit of a misnomer, as Toronto went on a 12-0 run in the final two minutes after both teams changed their starters.
But this was a big win for the Knicks, who have recently hit a rough patch after losing three straight. Still, this was a great win that moved the team to 25-13. Now so are the Knicks 8-2 when Anunoby scores 22 or more points.
Fans took notice of Anunoby’s great outing against his former team.

The play of the game was OG taking down RJ on the way to the middle of the third and then sinking a 3 at the other end as RJ was coming back. Turned the game around mentally. OG Anunoby all star performance. @JCMacriNBA @KnickFilmSkool

OG Anunoby loves playing his former team. He’s up to 27 PTS on a great 8-11 shot.
He needed this.

OG Anunoby just needed a game against his old team to get going again 👏

OG Anunoby absolutely feasts tonight and independently proves how and why #Knicks fleece Toronto during trade. pic.twitter.com/CkLGye1Apy

Great win by the Knicks. Very efficient OG and KAT plays. Let’s continue against OKC on Friday. We can win that one especially if Deuce is available.

I needed it back. When Og plays well, we rarely lose. He just needs to find some level of consistency where he doesn’t score 5 points in some games. #knicks https://t.co/hWt0CCu0tW

It was nice to see OG go and Kat back. Let’s see what happens on Friday.

A very strong end of the third quarter in the fourth won this one for the Knicks. They needed a win to stop a slight slide. Karl, Josh and OG were particularly strong. Good input from Precious and Shamet. Takes the whole group

The Knicks will host the 30-6 Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. OKC had won 15 straight before falling to the 32-4 Cleveland Cavaliers 129-122 on Wednesday.
