Oilers fans react to a dejected Connor McDavid after crushing 9-1 loss to Avalanche


Connor McDavid looked disappointed after the Edmonton Oilers lost 9-1 to the Colorado Avalanche in front of their home crowd at Rogers Place on Saturday. It was one of the worst games of this season.

McDavid scored the team's only goal on the power play. He had four shots, two penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of 3. The Oilers have now lost three games in a row, and it's alarming for their fan base.

Connor McDavid signed a two-year, $25 million extension with the Oilers on Oct. 6. He will be paid an average of $12.5 million annually, the same as his current eight-year, $100 million contract. He wanted the team to be strong, so he signed for a discount, although the Oilers' problems are not over.

Last season, Connor McDavid helped the Oilers get there Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year. He tied Leon Draisaitl for the playoff scoring lead with 33 points in 22 games. He entered this season on fire to improve and finally end his Stanley Cup drought.

And indeed, Connor McDavid has been at his best, scoring five goals and 22 points in 16 games. He has eight points in the last four games, but still, despite his effort, the Oilers have not improved. The team is seventh in the Pacific Division with a record of 6-6-4.
