The Indianapolis Colts’ season continues to spiral after they suffered an 18-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Veteran quarterback Philip Rivers couldn’t rescue his team in his first game since coming out of retirement.
Rivers led them to within a field goal of beating the Seahawks in the fourth quarter, bringing them close to ending their three-game losing streak. However, Jason Myers extended his losing streak to four games with a 56-yard field goal in the final seconds of the game.

Rivers, who joined the Colts last week after Daniel Jones was ruled out for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Rivers completed 18 of his 27 passing attempts for 120 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Since his retirement, Felipe Rios coached high school football in his native Alabama. The 44-year-old, who became the league’s oldest active player after signing with the Colts, became emotional as he discussed the impact of his first start since retirement.
“There’s doubt, and it’s real,” Rivers said. “The safe bet is go home or don’t go, and the other is, ‘Shoot, see what happens’. I hope in that sense this can be positive for some guys or young people.”
While fans questioned the veteran quarterback’s fitness before the Colts’ first game this season, Rivers claimed he enjoyed getting hit by Seahawks defenders.
“I never cared about that part,” Rivers said. “My wife always tells me I’m crazy because there have been times in the last three or four years that I’ve said, ‘I wish I could throw one and get hit, really hard.’
The Colts have now lost four straight and are out of playoff contention after Sunday’s loss. With three games left in the season, the Colts trail the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans.
