Paul Finebaum takes a subtle jab at Indiana with his bold Alabama comparison

Veteran SEC analyst Paul Finebaum took a subtle jab at the Indiana Hoosiers' undefeated run. Finebaum said:

“I think Indiana is very dominant, they're very good, but they (only) won a big game against Oregon. I'll like to see them go through the gauntlet that Alabama has been through in the last five weeks.”

Finebaum continued,

“They wouldn't be undefeated.”

The Alabama Crimson Tide had one of the toughest schedules in football over the past five weeks. They defeated the Georgia Bulldogs, Vanderbilt Commodores, Missouri Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers and South Carolina Gamecocks during the span. The first four wins came against ranked opponents, while the Gamecocks entered the game with a 3-4 record.

As for the Indiana Hoosiers, they picked up wins over the Illinois Fighting Illini, Iowa Hawkeyes, Oregon Ducks, Michigan State Spartans and UCLA Bruins. Fighting Illini and Ducks were ranked wins over the past five weeks.

Paul Finebaum gave Indiana some props, but still thinks Alabama had the toughest stretch of games.

Indiana Hoosiers staring at undefeated season

The Indiana Hoosiers has been one of the most impressive teams in college football this season. The Curt Cignetti-coached team is 8-0 and ranked No. 2 in the AP poll.

The Hoosiers are four wins away from posting a flawless regular season and reaching the College Football Playoff as one of the nation's most in-form programs. However, they will have to navigate tricky games against Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin and Purdue.

The Hoosiers' the last games are against teams that have a lot at stake. Maryland is currently 4-3 and is in contention for bowl game eligibility. Penn State entered the season with deep playoff aspirations and will look to end the year on a positive note. Wisconsin and Purdue, too, would like to send their fans off with a win against a rampant Indiana team.

Also, it's important to note that going undefeated is not a ticket to a long and productive playoff run. The Oregon Ducks went undefeated last season, but were soon eliminated by the eventual national champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Curt Cignetti will be looking to galvanize his troops to end the campaign on a positive note. His attention will then turn to bringing a national championship to Indiana.
