Rodtang: “The fans want it”

The next time Takeru Segawa moves on to fight for the ONE Championship, it will be his last in his illustrious career. And he wants Rodtang Jitmuangnon to be his last opponent in a rematch.

The Japanese kickboxing superstar announced one last fight following his second-round TKO victory over Denis Puric in their flyweight kickboxing clash at ONE 173: Superbon Vs. Noiri on November 16 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

An emotional Takeru shared after careful thoughtit was time to move on, before calling for Rodtang to be his latest opponent to get a chance at redemption after being knocked out in the opening round by 'The Iron Man' in their first meeting earlier this year.

He got the commitment he was asking from Rodtang, who was present at the venue and was also due to compete in ONE 173 until he had to withdraw after the weigh-ins because he fell ill. However, there is still no official word on when the rematch will take place.

After A Championship shared a video of Takeru's announcement on Instagram, fans shared their thoughts in the comments section.

The performance bonus sweetens Takeru's TKO win at ONE 173

Takeru's second-round TKO victory over Denis Puric at ONE 173 was made all the sweeter by the $50,000 performance bonus he received from ONE President and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

He was given the incentive to deliver one of the best performances of fight night that saw 'Natural Born Krusher' knocking down 'The Bosnian Menace' with his powerful punches four times over two rounds for the TKO victory.

It was Takeru's first performance bonus in ONE Championship since making his promotional debut in January of last year.

Other fighters who also received the bonus were ONE MMA champions Christian Lee and Yuya Wakamatsu, Suakim in Muay Thai and Tye Ruotolo in MMA.
