The current champions, who will be captained by Suryakumar Yadavwill open their T20 World Cup campaign against USA on February 7, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Rohitwho had propelled the Indian team to glory in the 2024 West Indies, was announced as the brand ambassador for the upcoming tournament by International Cricket Council (ICC) president Jay Shah. As the veteran cricketer has retired from T20Is, he will not be a part of the upcoming tournament. Hence, Rohit stated that it would be different to watch him from home, stating, as he quoted India today:
“Winning an ICC trophy is a big challenge. I've seen it personally over the years – I've completed 18 years in international cricket. I've been lucky enough to win two recently and two early in my career. But in between, there was a long drought where we couldn't win an ICC trophy, and I know how desperate we were as players and desperate to get to our team as players and desperate. To finally go out and win these trophies is it felt great. You can see the amount of happiness he brings to the country with the sport we play. Now, sitting on the sidelines and watching the T20 World Cup, having played all the World Cups, it will definitely feel different.
Team India has ten T20Is to play before the World Cup begins in February.
