Super Bowl champion calls for discipline on Shedeur Sanders ahead of Browns rookie's first NFL start against Raiders

Shedeur Sanders will finally start a regular season game this Sunday when the Cleveland Browns visit the equally languishing Las Vegas Raiders. And Greg Jennings has some advice for him before that time.

On Tuesday's episode of FS1's “First Things First,” the former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver said (starting at the 3:10 mark in the video below):

“I don't think it necessarily has to be good. It just can't be bad. … That's why I say game management, and maybe not even the game, the offensive like, you can make decisions, that even if you want to go back to your instincts, you're disciplined enough not to do it. … I'm not saying you're a robot.”

He continued:

“But what you have to prove is that you can play on time, that you can be decisive when you get the ball, when you go down, that you can protect not only yourself, but also the receivers… The reality is that we are all professionals, the expectation of the other players who will be on the field, of your coaching staff and of yourself, is that I will be ready.”

Kickoff for the Raiders is at 4:05 PM ET on CBS.

Insider Says Shedeur Sanders, Fellow Rookie Dillon Gabriel Could Face Competition in 2026

Since their reactivation, the Browns have been known for their instability at quarterback, with Dillon Gabriel i Shedeur Sanders being their 41st and 42nd holders, respectively. And for Mary Kay Cabot, that instability will only intensify as they look to regain their winning ways.

Appearing on 92.3 The Fan on Tuesday, he predicted the franchise's plans for the quarterback competition next season as follows:

“They're going to draft one in 2026. They've been criss-crossing the country, scouting and looking for those quarterbacks. … They might also consider bringing in another bridge veteran. Part of it will depend on what happens with Dillon and Shedeur the rest of the season.”

He also expressed the belief that Deshawn Watson, who is currently recovering from an Achilles tear, will be involved in some way:

“Maybe it's your veteran something or whatever. If they can show some of these guys that they have a winning quarterback, then I think it's going to change everything.”

The 2026 NFL Draft will be held April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
