Swerve Strickland may have teased his AEW return on social media ahead of Full Gear 2025. The former world champion's post dates back to a bloodbath of a match he had against his former arch-nemesis, Hangman Page, at the same event two years ago.
Swerve Strickland's rivalry with The Cowboy began in late 2023, initially leading to a singles match at WrestleDream where The Realest emerged victorious. Their feud soon escalated into the realm of deep personality after the former Moghul Embassy leader burst into Page's home and stood over his son's crib to cut an ominous promo. The mutual hatred between the two stars culminated in a gruesome Texas Death Match in Full Gear 2023which Swerve surprisingly won by making the Hanged Man pass out after hanging him with a steel chain.
Two years later, Page is now the AEW Men's World Champion, and is set to defend the strap against Samoa Joe inside a steel cage at Full Gear 2025. Heading into the pay-per-view, The Hangman threatened The Samoan Submission Machine by alluding to his capacity for violence in Steel Cage matches, referencing his infamous 2002 match at All Out vs. 2002
Just ahead of Full Gear, Swerve took to X/Twitter to share a photo of his 2023 Texas Death Match against Page, possibly foreshadowing his return to pay-per-view.
“Full baggage ⛓️,” Strickland wrote.

Swerve has been on the rebound ever since underwent surgery on his torn meniscus last August.
Last August at Forbidden Door 2025, Swerve Strickland faced Kazuchika Okada for his AEW Unified Championship. Despite his best efforts, All Elite Wrestling's so-called “Most Dangerous Man” was unable to topple The Rainmaker, who managed to retain the belt against the former World Champion.
After the match, Okada launched a post-match ambush on Strickland by attacking the latter's leg. Although Swerve's trainer Prince Nana rushed to the rescue, he himself was blinded by Wardlow's returnwho brutally attacked Nana while an injured and restrained Strickland was forced to stand guard.

It remains to be seen if Strickland will return to AEW this Saturday at Full Gear.
