Despite recently joining the AEW commentary team, Bryan Danielson was not at the announcers desk this weekend at WrestleDream 2025. All Elite boss Tony Khan has now revealed the reasons for his absence.
After Jon Moxley ended his full-time WrestleDream run last year, Bryan Danielson returned to the All Elite Wrestling schedule. Earlier this year at All In: Texas to help Hangman Page dethrone The One True King. After his return, The American Dragon began a new journey as he was named the newest member of the AEW announce team.
For the past several weeks, Bryan has been doing commentary on the company's flagship show, Dynamite, as well as pay-per-views, for example last month at All Out: Toronto, where he not only was present at the announcers' desk, but also indirectly tried to help Darby Allin defeat Jon Moxley in their Coffin Match. Danielson was absent this Saturday at AEW WrestleDream, however, and during the post-pay-per-view press scrumTony Khan explained why the former world champion missed the event.
Khan claimed that he had suggested that Danielson not be at WrestleDream in light of his history with Jon Moxley and Darby Allin, as the latter. they were scheduled to face off in an “I Quit” match in the main event. TK claimed that Bryan's absence from the event ensured that he wouldn't lose his job by interfering in said matchup, not to mention that the master technician also had a family commitment that night.
“He's coming back. To be honest, there were a couple of things. I think it made sense, given what was going on with the main event. I think it would have been very, very difficult for Bryan to hold back and now, knowing what Jon (Moxley) had planned, I also think it would have been very difficult for Bryan to sit on the desk while Darby is in that position, and since Bryan told him if you have a family” thing tonight, it's probably the night to go to your family engagement. Because I don't want to put you in a position where you could risk your job if you get up from your desk and interfere in this match.'” (H/T – NoDQ.com)
