The Dallas Cowboys officially unveiled their tenth main coach in the history of the franchise after a very public search that included two prominent names in Deion Sanders and Pete Carroll.
Ultimately, the franchise decided to look inside and promote offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to the main coach, kicking off a new cowboys football era. The fans had mixed reactions to hiring, mainly because Schottenheimer had previously worked under Mike McCarthy, which suggests that the team could continue with some of McCarthy's ideas. In addition, Schottenheimer did not call the plays as an offensive coordinator, who raised more concerns.
Former Cowboys' ex-receptor, he expressed a more pessimistic view of Schottenheimer's hiring. During an interview with Sirius XM, Bryant shared his thoughts on Schottenheimer's rental, accusing Dallas of not being “serious” about the future:
