Conservative governments spent $325m building 67 free schools that later failed or failed, according to revelations, according to information obtained by Freedom of Information.
Figures from Department of Education .
The free program was founded by Michael Gove As secretary of information in 2010, under the process of allowing groups or organizations seeking funds for new schools approved by DE.
Although several free schools were successful, such as the Michaela Centrance School in London, many others that became “People’s Schools” were founded or occupied by existing schools.
Data shows that since 2010 more than £325m has been spent on free tuition for 67 of the DF’s most liberalized schools. Warnings by the National Audit Office That 50% of the new free space created between 2015 and 2021 can be additional in their areas.
The Government’s handbook said: “These figures represent a significant increase in the number of Free Schools.
“Stable messages have been chosen enough to change, which later closed, and to rehabilitate mature schools and put special places in schools where they were most needed.
“This government has laid the foundation for our schools program, to tackle the forces outside the school gates that are destroying children’s lives.
“Now we will transform our schools so that all children who have forgotten the system are always included, so they all have an education, and not only that every child has a chance to succeed.”
One example of a “Gist” school built under a free school was a free school First Class Offices in Nottinghambuilt at a cost of £11.5m to provide 210 places. The school will not open due to lack of funding, forcing the school to pull the plug until last year.
Instead, the site agreed with Nottingham City Council to convert the building into a special educational facility, to provide more space for special education needs for special education (Send).
The loss of the district in London £ 55m was eight free schools that closed or “restricted”, where the school is moved from one trust to another. In the West, £16m was spent on a free school, while schools in the area were listed under the DEF building programme.
Meg Powell-Chandler, Director of the News Schools Networkhe insisted that the program had entered “a new energy” in English schools, allowing for new thinking and innovation by teachers and leaders.
Powill-Chandler said: “Free schools now do not hold the Bonics Chekics Checks, Raising standards, more flexibility and changing hundreds of thousands of content.
“We urge the government to continue with the 44 systems that will change the education in the areas of the left, as well as special schools and others necessary to provide special places of high quality.”
In October last year Bridget Phillipson announced that School Planning 44 Acceptance under the program refuses to be bitten when the government clearly explains their need for funding. A decision on their fate is expected soon.
