The launch of Chicago rapper's album Mello Buckzz became the stage for a shooting, according to at least four people killed at least 14 more people. According to NBC Chicago, the incident took place in the restaurant and at the Artis Hall located on 311 West Chicago Avenue at 23 hours on July 2, 2025.
The Lounge hosted the Mello Buckzz debut EP Festival, Hollyhoodplanned for publication on July 3, when the shoot took place. According to the same media, a dark vehicle passed in front of the Hall where the party was held. According to a person, a person set fire to the crowd collected and fled the scene after multiple shots were fired.
After the shooting, several Chicago and Fire Truck Vehicles reached the scene to evaluate the situation and help the victims. The victims, who were twenty and 30 years old, were transported to close hospitals for a treatment.
Two men, 24 and 25, and two women, 26 and 27, were killed in the shooting. The 24 -year -old man was hit on torso while the other man was shot on the head. In a follow -up post, he wrote that he couldn't believe that he lost his boyfriend as much as his best friend in one night. In other publications, he added:
“My heart burst into so many pieces, it is incredible. Why happens to me? … I don't want this pain to nobody was my crew.”
Mello Buckzz, whose real name is Melanie Doyle, debuted in 2021 after the launch of his single Damn buckzz. The drill rapper increased to fame with its tracks Boom, pt. 2 (presents Lactto) and Quite In 2023, he was labeled as an artist to see Pitchfork that year.
