Phil Mickelson sits at T23 After the second round of LIV Golf Mexico, with a total marker of 2 one. He shot a 69 round in the second round of the event on Saturday, April 26.
Mickelson's round was a roller coaster. It started with a par at the first hole, followed by a bird on the second, fifth, sixth and seventh. However, he faced a setback on the 14th, making a double bogey at Par-3. Bounced off with a bird in the 15th hole, but loaded another bogey on the 17th. Mickelson finished his round with a relative in the 18th hole, keeping his constant total score at 69, 2-less.
In his first round, Phil Mickelson also had a mixed performance, as he published three birds, a bogey and a double bogey, ending with a score of 71. Mickelson is currently sharing the T23rd site with Marc Leishman, Jason Kokrak and Charles Howell III.
The event at the Chapultepec Golf Club is currently led by the GC Captain, Bryson Dechambeau, who loaded five birds and three bogeys in the second round. He also made an eagle on the second. Dechambeau is once ahead of the second place Cameron Smith, with Joaquin Niemann in third place. Jon Rahm is currently fourth, while Tyrrell Hatton is in fifth place.
GC Rangoats Captain, Bubba Watsonis now at T10, sharing the place with Dustin Johnson.
In the meantime, Phil Mickelson seems to be in good shape, especially after reaching a sixth place in Liv Golf Miami.
Phil Mickelson enjoys the different play conditions at the Chapultepec Golf Club during LIV Mexico. Speaking about the course before the event, Mickelson said through Instagram:
“It's fun because the ball makes a long way. It's hard because trying to control its irons and gaining control of distance is very difficult. This will be the biggest challenge this week.”
Located more than 7,800 feet above sea level, the course of Mexico City is known for making golf balls travel farther. The sixth important winner even demonstrated the difference during practice, registering a ball speed of 177 mph with a transport of 362 gardens.
The Chapultepec Golf Club has hosted large tournaments in the past, including the WGC-MEXIC championship from 2017 to 2020. The Par-71 design extends more than 7,345 yards and is built around the narrow tracks, the small greens and the corridors with trees.
The course was originally designed by Willie Smith and completed by his brother Alex Smith in 1921. The course requires accuracy, which means that players have to carefully adjust their gardens, with balls flying around 10-15% more than at sea level.
