About three years ago, Nascar Hall of Famer and former Stewart-Haas Racing (Shr) Tony Stewart In frustration he hit the brakes in any discussion of recent penalties that scored his team.
Following the Bank of America Roval 400 in 2022, Nascar announced that ShR had manipulated the results of the race orchestrating a slow Custer slowdown in the final lap to benefit his teammate Chase Briscoe. Custer struck with a heavy $ 100,000 fine and docked 50 points from the driver. The 41 crew head, Mike Shiplett, also received a proportional suspension and an indefinite suspension, and the team lost 50 owner points.
Speaking to Texas Motor Speedway journalists on October 11, after the penalties were announced, Stewart refused to discuss the incident.
“I'm not going to talk -I'm so crazy with Nascar right now, I'm not talking about it,” said Tony Stewart (through NBC Sports).
By the beginning of this month, Kevin Harvick And his Ford Crew No. 4 had also received a deduction of $ 100,000 and points deductions after a bankruptcy inspection in Talladega. The Triple Nascar Cup champion also added that his motivation to stay at the Nascar had touched a hard turn.
“Very happy that I will go to the trawler races this weekend. If it weren't for the fact that I have a couple of appearances I have to do, I would not be in another race of nascar the rest of the year. I would not waste time,” added Stewart.
Nascar cited Custer to violate section 5.5 of the Nascar Cup Rules Book during the Charlotte Roval playoff race. They determined that Custer was deliberately slowed down and blocked a car package in the back to allow Briscoe to pass various drivers and move forward in the playoffs.
Shr called against Custer's penalties, but lost it later in October and Shiplett was reinstated by Nascar in January of the following year.
On the same day as Tony Stewart's comments on being angry at Nascar, he requested a new Hobby suggestion in what seemed to be a cheek post at X (October 11, 2022).
“Looking for a new weekend hobby (something that is not based in the south -East) if someone has some idea. Something low and relaxing -preferably,” Tony Stewart wrote.
Stewart had begun to make a higher fuel entrance (Leah Prruett) and a fun car entry (Matt Hagan) in the Drag Nra racing series in 2022 and the team saw the success soon. Prruett won his first fuel victory in Denver's Mile -High Nationals that year and Hagan went to collect his fourth fun car championship in 2023.
Stewart himself moved to the maximum fuel last season and has won two races so far this year.
