If I hadn't seen the sun follows 25-year-old Li Jen Yao, who confesses to being the serial rainstorm killer. While imprisoned, he grants an interview to Chou Pin Yu, drawing her into a world of past crimes, ulterior motives, and disturbing secrets of love and revenge.
The next part of If I hadn't seen the sun is ready to delve into the dark transformation of Li Jen Yao. The preview hints at his journey of revenge as he begins killing his 10 victims, including Ouyang Ti and his gang. Yen Chen, also known as Shen Mu, seems to be heavily involved in Li Jen Yao's path.
The mysterious blind woman introduced at the end of the first part seems to play a crucial role in his current life. His relationship with Li Jen Yao takes an intense turn. She is seen strangling him in one of the scenes, raising questions about her true identity and whether she may be linked to Hsiao Tung.

The second part is also expected to reveal the connection between Chou Pin Yu and Li Jen Yao and Chiang Hsiao Tung and how he got the visions. Her recurring flashbacks to Li Jen Yao and Chiang Hsiao Tung's past hint that she may be more than just an observer.
The next part may also reveal where Chiang Hsiao Tung really is. It may also shed light on what triggers Li Jen Yao's killing and whether he ever reunites with Chiang Hsiao Tung.
Ultimately, the second part promises to reveal the hidden truths behind Li Jen Yao's action and the mystery surrounding Hsiao Tung's fate.

The story begins with Chou Pin Yu, an assistant director working on a documentary. During his research and production process, he discovers the tragic past of Li Jen Yao. He is a death row inmate who has 10 killers, including his own father.
The series then moves to Jen Yao's past, her teenage years and how she meets Chiang Hsiao Tung, the student model and skilled dancer. He is also kind and sees the good in Li Jen Yao despite his bad reputation. She offers him food and friendship when he has no one else, and over time, they form a bond.
Hsiao Tung's close friend Yen Chen, who is also Chou Pi Yu's cousin Shen Mu, warns Hsiao Tung of Jen Yao about his involvement in various quarrels, especially with Ouyang Ti's circle. Ouyang Ti, the son of a powerful family, is used to getting away with his luck. He starts targeting Jen Yao, and the tension between the two eventually leads to Hsiao Tung being sexually assaulted by Ouyang Ti and his gang.
Hsiao Tung's mother tries to seek justice, but Ouyang Ti's mother intervenes, threatening to press charges against Hsiao Tung's family if she moves forward with the case. Instead, he offers compensation, stating that even if they take the matter to court, the boys will go free because of their family's influence, while Hsiao Tung's life will be ruined. Fearing for her daughter's future, Hsiao Tung's mother convinces her to sign a promise saying they will not pursue the case.

Devastated, Hsiao Tung isolates herself. Later she goes to a park to dance, believing that the movement will help her heal. However, when a crowd gathers and cheers, she is suddenly triggered by memories of the assault. Overwhelmed, she runs away and runs into Ouyang Ti and his group again, forcing her to flee in fear to the roof of the school.
There, Li Jen Yao meets her and tells her that if she is thinking of jumping, she will join her. He reminds her of his promise to always be by her side. His words calm her and she breaks down in his arms. Before leaving for Taipei, Hsiao Tung meets him once more and asks him to return to the same rooftop 5 years later at Christmas, hoping that they can meet again when their lives have changed.
Later, during the school ballet recital, Ouyang Ti and his friends attend the performance. As they leave the compound joking and laughing, Li Jen Yao attacks Ouyang Ti, stabbing him twice in the stomach. He is arrested and sent to prison. When Ouyang Ti's mother visits, Jen Yao tells her that she feels no remorse and promises to stab her son again once he is free. Furious, she uses her power to extend her sentence.
In 2014, Jen Yao is finally released. He returns to the school roof, only to find traces of Christmas decorations. Realizing that Hsiao Tung has kept his promise and waited for her, she bursts into tears.

Eight months later, Jen Yao works as a construction worker. One evening, he meets a blind woman who reminds him of Hsiao Tung, but she is a different person. Jen Yao helps him reach his destination.
As he leaves, he notices a butterfly tattoo on his middle finger, the same tattoo Hsiao Tung has in the same place. Suspicion and hope fill his heart as he looks at the woman. With this, If I hadn't seen the sun Part 1 concludes.
